Managing Director
£135k - £140k +

This is a key leadership role which will demand a real breadth of experience and perspective: someone who can contribute to leadership of people and place, working in partnership with others to deliver the best outcomes for Watford and translate our strategic vision into action on the ground.

An ideal candidate will understand the dynamics of effective leadership: when to lead from the front and when to step back and allow others to take centre stage. You’ll be able to foster strong relationships with staff, elected Members and an extensive range of local stakeholders, establishing professional credibility quickly and winning trust through delivering what we promise. 

We want our Managing Director to play a visible role within and beyond the organisation – to offer clear and consistent direction to our staff, and to play a highly involved role in promoting and facilitating the development and growth of the town. 

It’s a role that demands dynamism and pace and the personal impact to bring others with you. You’ll also need to assure of your ability to lead effective programme and contract management within the organisation to ensure that key initiatives remain on track and on budget. Evaluating and converting commercial opportunities is an integral part of our medium term financial strategy, so we’ll be keen to hear about your relevant experience in this area.
